HKDSE Music

Entry Requirements

In compliance with the Education Bureau (“EDB”) and Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority (“HKEAA”) requirements for studying HKDSE Music, we accept students with: 

 

Western Instrumental or Vocal Qualification

  • A Grade 6 or above qualification in Instrumental or Vocal from ABRSM, Trinity Guildhall Music Examinations, Australian Music Examinations Board and Royal Conservatory of Music Toronto-Canada.
  • HKEAA also accepts mark conversions other than those on the exam boards above. HKEAA also accepts the London College of Music (LCM) and the University of West London (formerly known as LCM, Thames Valley University) on a case-by-case basis.

 

Chinese Instrumental Qualification

  • A Grade 6 or above qualification in Instrumental from Central Conservatory of Music (Chinese Music).
  • HKEAA also accepts mark conversions other than those on the exam boards above. HKEAA also accepts the Grading Committee of China Conservatory (中國音樂學院考級委員會 ) and China Nationalities Orchestra Society (中國民族管弦樂學會) on a case-by-case basis.

 

Music Theory

  • Grade 5 theory from ABRSM or Trinity Guildhall Music Examinations.

  • We suggest students with special cases support their applications with recommendation letter(s) or proof(s) from their music teacher and instrumental teacher. Please refer to the Application Form's recommendation page (page 5) for details.
